Temple Coffee Roasters is a Sacramento, California specialty roaster and multi-location cafe operator that has anchored the city's third-wave coffee scene since its founding in 2005. Built around a philosophy of direct sourcing and meticulous roasting, Temple became one of the first operations in the Central Valley to pursue the kind of farm-traceable, origin-specific program that was largely confined to coastal markets at the time.

Starting from a single Sacramento location, Temple expanded steadily across the city's urban core — Midtown, the R Street corridor, and beyond — growing to roughly half a dozen cafes while maintaining a roasting operation that supplies all of them. That vertical integration, roasting in-house and retailing through owned storefronts, has given Temple unusual control over how its coffees reach the cup and allowed the company to develop a strong internal barista culture. That culture has produced competitors at the national level, lending Temple a competitive-coffee credibility uncommon for a regional roaster.

The roasting program is anchored in single-origin selections, with an emphasis on lots that express distinct terroir rather than blended approachability. A subscription club — Roasters' Choice — rotates through exclusive single-origin offerings; recent lots have carried tasting notes of coconut, tamarind, and mangosteen, profiles that point toward unconventional processing and tropical-fruit-forward character. Sourcing spans East Africa and Latin America, with processing styles that run from clean washed lots to more expressive natural and anaerobic preparations.
